North Pole vs. South Pole

I was talking to an old friend a couple of days ago. She loves the arctic and dreams to visit it someday. We got on the topic of North and South Pole. That's when I asked her what is the difference between the two Poles? Well, here's what she said:

The two Poles are located on different sides of the Earth. North Pole is called the Arctic and South Pole is called Antarctica. North Pole is a huge piece of ice afloat in the ocean, while South Pole is a continent covered by snow/ice. No humans live on the South Pole, only scientific research is done there while native people live on the North Pole. Polar bears, reindeer, caribou, wolf and fox, all live on the North Pole while penguins live on the South Pole. Both poles have similar marine life. Also, South Pole is a lot colder than the North Pole.

I found this information very fascinating. I always thought that the Poles were very similar and that polar bears and penguins lived together. It was a shock to realize that I was wrong. This is one conversation that I'll never forget.
